So, while they don't go into any specific details (GR lvl, rough max number of mobs on screen), it seems that a) the game can handle a fair bit of on-screen mayhem, b) that specific demo isn't the one that was shown in the gameplay vids uploaded by various outlets on YouTube (they don't actually say that, it's just my interpretation based on the contrast between this preview and the footage we've seen so far). Annoyingly, they note that text size can be a bit too small in handheld. They then go on to say that the game is a bit blurry (as opposed to aliased), that great care was taken to cut corners were the downgrades would be least visible, so the game still looks very decent. And, save for a couple residual freezes when a scripted portal or angry boss appears, the game clearly emphasizes player comfort. There are some framerate variations, of course you can sometimes tell that the game fails to maintain its noble target for a second or two, but it never becomes an annoyance. Blizzard, Nintendo and Iron Galaxy (Skyrim Switch) have prioritized gameplay over everything else, making every effort to reach their ambitions: a targeted 60 fps, both undocked and docked, in single-player, 2-player or 4-player coop, all while making dramatic spells rain on a sea of mobs. In short, Diablo III on Switch is a combination of all the accessibility improvements made for the console versions of Diablo III with the portability aspect on top, barely sacrificing fluidity in the process. In other words, the demo was controlled, which our astute readers will keep in mind when weighing our opinions on this port. Also worthy of note: inventory access was locked, loot turned off, and even skill builds were set in stone. Effectively, each journalist was completely free to choose their character archetype, assuming it was one of the seven level 70 characters that were lined up and geared like muscle cars for the occasion. This session was actually divided into four 15-minute runs into the same Greater Rift, some very high-level content, with a high density of enemies and all kinds of effects.
